Before he formed Stealer's Wheel in the mid 1970s, or before he scored a major hit in '78 with the sax-soaked "Baker Street," Rafferty knocked out this folk-rock gem in '71. From the Beatles via E.L.O. power pop of "Mr. Universe," to the countrified harmonies of "Didn't I?," the album is a fluid, detailed recount of how to make good pop music in the '70s.
