Mick Hucknall of Simply Red may soon be working for the British government.|
Hucknall, an active spokesman for changes in copyright laws, has been singled out for a position on a government task force to examine the effects of government policy on the music industry.
Hucknall has already met with Prime Minister Tony Blair on several occasions, according to Q magazine.
Formed in 1984, Simply Red's debut album, Picture Book, went platinum largely on the strength of the single "Holding Back The Years." In the next 10 years, the band produced five albums, including the multiplatinum Star. Their Greatest Hits album was released in 1997. (Isaac Josephson)
