Juju
Juju shares with Highlife an antecedent in West African palm-wine music and a dance hall presence, but it was brewed in the Yoruban region of Lagos in western Nigeria (with Highlife taking hold in the east and in Ghana) and it has recently become much more elaborate in production. Guitar melodies bubble over rumbling percussion, with periodic "conversations" between talking drums and the chatter of other indigenous percussion.
